K&L Wines and Spirits is one of the leading sellers, distributors and suppliers of fine wines in the US.

With a cramped existing shop in San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood, they were bursting at the seams.  This new 20,000 square foot facility includes a generous 5,000 s.f. sales floor, and 15,000 s.f. of office, warehouse, distribution and loading docks.  The design of the retail area is meant to evoke a younger, hipper vibe than the traditional wine store, appealing to the population of tech employees in the area.  Oriented Strand Board (OSB) is used as a primary material, at once industrial, edgy, and still warm.  Dramatic lighting and floating “clouds” define the various areas and product sectors.
